What’s new in NM Collector CP Beta 2.3.1

Desktop Beta 2.3.1 for Windows, Mac and Linux · Android and iOS 1.1.0 · October 2026

This is the largest update to NM Collector CP in years. Upgrading does not change your collections, items or pictures.

Download Beta 2.3.1 from the Downloads page.

Autocomplete for long drop-down lists

Find a value by typing a few letters instead of scrolling.
-
On Windows, Mac and Linux, type in an editable drop-down to narrow its suggestions. Matching ignores capitals and finds text anywhere in a value. Choose a suggestion with the mouse or the arrow keys and Enter, or press Enter to save a new value.
-
On phones and tablets, tap a field to open a searchable list, type to filter, and tap a result. To add a new entry, type it and tap Use new value. Cancel leaves the original value alone.
-
Works on seven tabs: Identification, Description, Receipt, Disposition, Pictures, Maintenance and Events. New values join the field’s drop-down list when you save.

Your whole collection as one file

On the Export page, choose Collection Data Transfer and then Share Data. NM Collector CP packs your database and every picture into one file, CP_Data_Transfer.zip.
-
iPhone and iPad: the share sheet opens. AirDrop it, save it to Files or iCloud Drive, or send it any way iOS allows.
-
Android: the share sheet opens. Quick Share it, save it to Google Drive or Downloads, or attach it to an email.
-
Windows, Mac and Linux: choose a folder, ready to copy to a USB drive, a network share or a phone.

To load it, choose Import > Collection Data Transfer > Zip File. The app checks the file and the free space, backs up the data already on the device, and puts it back if the load cannot finish.

Importing a transfer replaces everything on the receiving device. Export from that device first if it holds anything you want to keep. The folder method still works, and on iPhone and iPad it now opens the Files folder picker.

The app itself still never connects to the internet. If you choose to share through email or a cloud service, your collection passes through that provider, and the app reminds you before the share sheet opens.

29 ready-made collections, 16 of them new

New: Art and Antiques, Books, Cameras and Lenses, Fishing Tackle, Militaria, Motor Vehicles, Musical Instruments, Pens and Writing Instruments, Radios and Electronics, Records and Media, Southwest Pottery and Jewelry, Sports Cards and Memorabilia, Tools and Shop Equipment, Toys and Models, Watches and Clocks, Wine and Spirits.

Refreshed: Ammo, Coins, Firearms, Geological, Home Inventory, Knives, Licenses, Nihonto, Paper Items, Recipes, Stamps and Subscriptions. Stamps gains catalog number, perforation, printing method, gum, centering, grade, cancel and faults. Coins gains grading service, certification number, strike and catalog number. Whistles is unchanged.

Every collection follows one rule: the Identification tab holds what tells one item apart from every other, and the Description tab holds condition, storage, provenance and value. The drop-down lists now hold thousands of real values, and every collection comes with three sample items.

New installations start with all 29. If you already use NM Collector CP, add the ones you want from the Collection Templates page with each collection’s Get This Template button and File > Import > Collection Template.

Imports that ask before they change anything

-
A warning before field labels change. If a template import would rename or remove a label you already have, the app lists the affected fields. Choose Import to go ahead or Cancel to change nothing. Items From CSV imports get the same check.
-
Template imports find their collection by name, create it if it is missing, and load all three files in one pass.
-
Cleaner drop-down lists: values import with their notes, letter-case duplicates are not added twice, and deleting a collection removes its lists.
-
Template and CSV imports on phones and tablets, for the first time.

Windows, Mac and Linux

-
A native Apple Silicon build for newer Macs, alongside the Intel build.
-
Cancel means cancel in every folder chooser: export, import and custom-report save.
-
A missing export folder is handled: the app asks for a new one and remembers it.
-
Windows stay where you put them when you move between monitors.
-
A damaged window-position settings file no longer stops the app starting.
-
Renaming a collection and then importing a template no longer locks the database.
-
Clear DB starts you fresh with all 29 collections and no items.

Android 1.1.0

-
Built for Android 16, edge to edge on modern screens. Requires Android 7.0 or later.
-
Files in the old external storage folder move into the app on first start, which can take a moment with many pictures.
-
A rebuilt folder import that checks the folder, backs up first and shows progress.
-
Reports open a chooser, so you can send them to Gmail, Drive or any app.
-
The Back button works everywhere, and both transfer dialogs have a real Cancel.
-
A new adaptive app icon.

iPhone and iPad 1.1.0

-
Requires iOS 16 or later. Older devices keep the version they have.
-
The share sheet and file pickers now open correctly on iPad, in portrait and landscape.
-
Free-space checks before every share or import.
-
Export messages name the folder they wrote to.
-
Rotation works on iPhone and iPad. A new app icon.

Fixes on every platform

-
Apostrophes are kept: “Smith’s Auction” is saved as typed.
-
One- and two-character values, such as a grade of “AU”, are no longer blanked.
-
Deleting an item removes its pictures and notes; deleting a collection removes everything that belongs to it.
-
Duplicating an item copies every note field.
-
An export that cannot read its data stops and says so, instead of writing a wrong file.
-
Fewer crashes when a list comes back empty.

Before you upgrade

-
Your data is safe. Upgrading changes no collections, items or pictures.
-
A transfer import replaces all data on the receiving device. Export first.
-
Use the same version on both devices when transferring.
-
Clear DB replaces your database with the empty 29-collection starting database. Export first.
