The NM Collector Android app is designed with your privacy as the top priority. 
Your collection data never leaves your device.

 

We collect ZERO data
- No personal information
- No collection inventory data
- No location tracking
- No usage analytics
- No advertising IDs
- No device fingerprinting

Your firearms, coins, stamps, and other collections stay completely private on your Android device.

Where Your Data Lives

Your collection data is stored exclusively on your Android device using Android's 
secure local storage (SQLite database).

 

You control your data:
- Stored in your device's private app directory
- Only accessible by your user account
- Optional: Back up to your Google Drive (your personal Drive, not our servers)
- Export files you control
- No automatic cloud sync

 

We never have access to your data—ever.

What We DON'T Collect

Unlike many Android apps, NM Collector does NOT:

❌ Track your location  
❌ Use advertising trackers  
❌ Collect device identifiers  
❌ Monitor app usage  
❌ Send crash reports (unless you opt-in)  
❌ Upload collection data  
❌ Require Google account sign-in  
❌ Share data with third parties

Optional Data Sharing (YOU Control)

The ONLY time data leaves your device is when YOU choose to:

- **Back up to Google Drive** - Your personal Drive, not our servers
- **Export collection** - Create a file you control
- **Share via email** - Send yourself a report
- **Print records** - Generate PDF locally

All data sharing is manual and under your complete control.

Permissions Explained

NM Collector requests these Android permissions:

**STORAGE (Read/Write):**
- Why: To save your collection data and photos
- What we do: Store data in app's private directory only

**CAMERA (Optional):**
- Why: To photograph items in your collection
- What we do: Photos stored locally, never uploaded

**INTERNET (Optional):**
- Why: To check for app updates only
- What we do: No data transmission except update checks

You can revoke any permission in Android Settings.

**Google Drive API:** Used only if YOU enable backup to your Drive
**Firebase:** NOT used - we don't use Google analytics/tracking

- App sandboxing - Your data isolated from other apps
- Scoped storage - App data protected by Android OS

- Works on devices with limited Google services
- Compatible with privacy-focused Android ROMs

Data Retention

**On your device:** Forever (until you delete the app)
**On our servers:** Nothing - we have no servers storing your data
**Backups:** Only if you create them (Google Drive, export file, etc.)

- Delete all data by uninstalling the app
- Export your data anytime
