I have NMcollector on my PC. I plan to get a new PC. My NM collector program is on a thumb drive I purchased from you. My plan is to load the NM program on to my new computer with this drive. My current computer is backed up in Carbonite. This is how I plan to move all my data to the new computer. Do you know if this will result in the firearms data I have entered being downloaded into the NMcollector on my new computer. Looking for your best advice. Thanks, Greg

I have been using NM for years. It will no longer save any new data I make. If I type a new record and save it will not be present when I re-open the program. Anything I type into records I have had for years will not be present when I open the program again. I am now back to paper records for new firearms! Help! Looking for your best advice! Thanks, Greg

Hi, Sorry I was so slow to get back to you. I am using a new tool for these support requests and thought I would be notified but wasn't. The only time I have seen issues where changes and new entries were not saved in the past had to do with java issues on the computer. Would you mind checking your java installation and configuration? Did you take a look at my known issues page ( https://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/support1/known-issues/)? There is a section titled "Program exhibits strange behavior and or data changes that you have made do not save. Assuming that you did not install to “C:\Program Files\…” or “C:\Program Files(x86)\…” directories this is caused by a disabled or improperly configured installation of Java on your computer." with a link to a java test page: http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp Thanks, Clay

Hi, Sorry I was so slow to get back to you. I am using a new tool for these support requests and thought I would be notified but wasn't. I do not have a record for the email you submitted. Can you send me your current userid and activation so I can test them on my copy of 4.0.1? Thanks, Clay

I have the older collector software and now have time to use it, version 2.5.4 can I import to the new software? Secondly can I buy and download the software and then get the USB drive software so I can use the program on my laptop as well? I mostly use my desktop but want to be able to take the laptop to the gunroom to work on the guns and coin collection

Hi, Sorry I was so slow to get back to you. I am using a new tool for these support requests and thought I would be notified but wasn't. Yes, you can certainly run it from a USB flash drive. The main thing to consider is your pictures. They either need to be stored in the NM Collector Software database or as files on the USB. p.s. I thought you might like your website to be visible ... if not please let me know and I will remove it. Thanks

Hi Clayton, I recently migrated my copy of NMCollectorJE CMP Edition (v4.01) from running on my Mac to a USB Flashdrive. I did this by downloading the NMCollectorJEforUSB.zip file from your download page. I then unzipped the contents directly to the root of the Flashdrive. I then did a "Show Package Contents" of the NMCollectorJE application file on both my Mac and Flashdrive, so I could then copy the Contents/Resources folder from my Mac HD to the Flashdrive, which I did do. Everything worked fine. I was then able to successfully launch NMCollector by opening the NMCollectorJE application file (double clicking). It came up with the CMP logo, shows the lifetime activation, etc. It shows all of my inventory, just as it was/is on my Mac. However, there is a problem. When I make any change to anything in inventory, click the "Save" button on the item inventory screen, then click "Save to Disk", it seems like it saves the changes. However, when I exit the program, then go back in again, the changes were not saved. I searched for some sort of a log file, but I either cannot see it, or there is not one. Please, I need your help in figuring out how to correct this, so I can add inventory to the software. Thank You Jim

Hi, Sorry I was so slow to get back to you. I am using a new tool for these support requests and thought I would be notified but wasn't. This should work. I noticed some people were having what seems like this problem with the latest Mac operating system. I do not have a solution for that. I do have some questions for you. Just to be clear, does 4.0.1 still work when run from your desktop rather than the USB? Thanks, Clay UPDATE: I received the following response from Jim via email: Hi Clay, I was able to get it to work. I simply copied the entire NMCollectorJE application file from my Mac to the flash drive and that did the trick. It runs great from the flash drive. Since this is an easy process, I decided to continue to run it directly on my Mac and copying it to the flash drive as a backup. I haven't attempted to mount the flash drive on a Windows PC and run the app, but since the flash drive is formatted FAT32, I am thinking it will probably work. If not, no big deal, since I only have Mac machines. Thanks Jim

I ran into a issue today. If a someone purchased a item over 7 figures, the system seems not to be able to calculate that high for a single item? Do you have a work around for this? Please do not publish this message with my name on it. Thank you

Hi, Sorry I was so slow to get back to you. I am using a new tool for these support requests and thought I would be notified but wasn't. I just confirmed this is a limitation of my program. I will need to modify the underlying database to enable that large of a figure. I'm not sure when I will be able to get to that. Probably not until January. Sorry about that.

Clayton, I have NMcollector on one of my PC's and it works fine. When I take it via flash drive to another PC, it won't work. I get the following message. Runtime error 713 Class not registered. You need the following file to be installed on your machine. MSSTDFMT.DLL I have tried all of the fixes found online and can't get it to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Sorry I was so slow to get back to you. I am using a new tool for these support requests and thought I would be notified but wasn't. Just to be clear, I believe you running the old NM Gun Collector Software. If the so you actually have to install it on all computers that you plan to use it on even when running from a USB flash drive. Please let me know. Thanks, Clay
