For purchase/activation issues you can contact me through your PayPal transaction. Other than that, since I charge so little for the software, and I have a full time job unrelated to this software, I really cannot afford to provide personalized support to everyone who purchases a copy. I would highly encourage you to please read the published documentation and examples on my web pages.

Also, in the past when I have published an email address, I had to give it up due to excessive spam. If you need help above and beyond the documentation, please post your questions here so others may benefit from my responses.

I do not provide fro that on the pictures tab. However, you can use the "links" tab for capturing the pdf and opening it when you want to view it.

To others who may face a similar issue, please be sure to check your spam filters and any restrictions you have against automated messages. The activation is an automated response with no human to answer any challenges that come back.

I am licensed user running version 3.01 on my Windows 10 PC. I love the app but seem to be having issues with the bar code feature. I have installed the recommended bar code font (along with other free ones) and can see them just fine in windows. When I try to run reports or use the bar codes inside the app it just gives me the error that the barcode is not installed. What am I doing wrong?

When you say you see it in Windows does it show up as a bar code in the program itself (just above the fields on the identification tab)? If so, that is an issue I need to investigate. If not, that is what I would expect for the following reason.

Unfortunately (sorry) I wrote the program to use a specific bar code font and made no provision for you to specify another. So, even if you see bar codes in windows, if you do not have the specific font I am looking for installed, you will not see a bar code in the application and will get the error when you try to run the report. In the next upgrade I will make provision for you to select whatever bar code font you want to use. I have a link to that free bar code in the known issues page:

I believe that is a problem with my old NM Gun Collector Software since it was written for Windows XP (I loved that operating system!) and never updated for changes in the way Microsoft expected programs to be installed in later versions of Windows.

Please see the instructions on the download page ( which state the following:

Do not allow the default installation directory to move forward. This software was developed prior to Microsoft standard changed so it will not work in the standard installation directory. You will get a Runtime error when you try to start the program if you install to the default installation directory.

I have not used the NM app in probably a year, I went in and added several new firearms purchases and attempted to print an inventory report for my files. Regardless of which report option I select I receive a Report Failed pop up that states; Report failed due to the following error {Error compiling report java source files: C:\Users\\downloads\NM Collector SW\NMCollector JEforWin\NMCollector JE\app\}
I receive the same message for any report I attempt to create with the only difference being the numbers at the end of the Error message.
Great program, would appreciate any assistance you can provide.

I would have loved to have participated but just now saw the messages and the deadline has passed. I do, however, note that your site appears to be in Russian (I do not know the language so I am guessing). Since I only provide my software in English it probably would not make sense to do a review of it for Russian users.

Here is my question, when entering my data, when I put a price in the box for it and hit save it goes back to zero, even if I put a number in there and try to go to a new entry to say put in the purchase date the price field goes back to zero. How can I stop it from doing that?

Are any other fields behaving in this way? If so, are you using a Mac? If so, there is a known issue when running directly from the download without extracting the contents of the download.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Given your circumstance, the easiest thing for you to do is purchase your own flask drive and then copy your current nm collector software to that flash drive. Once you do that you can just purchase the activation and apply it to your copy on your usb flash drive. You can purchase from Brownells but that will make it more difficult to transfer your data to the Brownel's drive.

I've been a user of the software for many years, & I've never completely understood how the Bar Code function is supposed to work. I have the latest version (4.0.1). I installed the fonts & if I type letters & numbers in the Bar Code field, a bar code is generated in the field immediately above.

1).Is that the extent it is to work - meaning I should type characters of my own designation into the field to create the barcode?

2). What is the function of the [Go] button in the Barcode field? If I click it, nothing appears to happen. I thought If I'm in a record, & selected a different bar code from the drop down menu hitting the [Go] button would send me to that record but instead that code is then assigned to the current record & I have to correct it.

It's a great program - I'm glad I found it & and thank you for creating it!

That bar code was meant for use with a bar code reader and printed bar code labels. 🙂 You can read more about it in the printable on-line manual here:

It is actually the value of the Unique ID field displayed in a bar code font.

If you put your cursor in that bar code field and then scan a bar code that was printed out and press the go button it will go to that item. 🙂

I also found on your site here that there is a new version that should take care of my issues.
