All of the templates that are available are included with the Brownells version. However, they do not all show up. You have to go into Manage > Collection Types to make additional collections visible.

Yes, you can install on all of your computers. I like to use the USB as a transfer/backup mechanism.

Actually, it does not change the original picture locations. However, you can choose whether to store the actual images in the NM Collector Software database or just the paths to them. Actually it is supported. You just have to install to a directory other than Program Files. It gives you an option to choose a different directory during the installation. may I suggest h:\nmguncollector as an installation directory?

country of origin, category/style, region, distillery, product name, age/vintage, ABV, volume, purchase price, bottle location, and whether the bottle is open or closed, distillation date, bottling date, cask type, finishing cask, bottler/producer, purchase date.

Okay, finally got to it. I uploaded the template here: https://nmcollector.net/templates/. The only file in that directory is BourbonTemplate.nmct. You need to download that file. Most likely, if you just click on it, it will open in your browser as a text file. How you download it will depend on your browser. You should be able to right click on it and select something like "Save Link As ..."

Once downloaded, to add this template to your installation, please choose Manage > Collection Types from the NM Collector menu and then click the Import button. Then browse to the downloaded BourbonTemplate.nmct file and select it. Once the file is imported you will have a new collection to choose.

Please keep in mind this is my best guess not knowing bourbon. I attempted to break up your suggestions into Identification and Description. Think of identification as the essential fields for distinguishing one bottle from another whereas Description is additional information about the particular bottle. Also, I can pre-populate values for the drop down fields if you can tell me what they should be. Of course, the system will automatically populate them in the drop down list as you use them.

For Windows Vista and later, DO NOT INSTALL TO THE C:\Program Files directory or it will not Work!!!! When you run the installer please change the default installation directory.

Sorry, I do not have an iOS version. I am planning to work on one starting first thing next year but that does not help you right now.

Thank you for your help. I attempted to follow the instructions you sent for upgrading the program. As I feared I've evidently did something incorrect, when I click on my NM desktop icon it no longer opens the NM first page, instead it presents me with a windows 'Open File' dialog box asking me if I want to Run the NM Collector. I clicked on run and now the first page that loads indicates I have Ver 4.0 but it also states I have 29 days remaining on my activation when I have the lifetime license.
When I got into the app I found all my pictures and data are gone and it appears I'm back to square one. I attempted to run several of the report options but still receive the compiling error I initially reported.
In trying to figure this out I found that I have two NM folders in my 'C' folder one is titled NM Collector Software JE and within it are two icons named NMCollectorJE6.exe and the other is titled NMCollectorJE6.jar. If I click on either of those I receive an error msg that the NM Collector Database (nmcswDB) is missing.
The second folder under 'C' is titled NM Collector SW. within this folder are two subfolders, one named NM Collector Software JE and it contains the same two icons described above which also state the database is missing if I click on them. The second sub folder is named NMCollectorJEforWin, which has a single sub folder under it that contains an icon named NMCollectorJE.exe, when I click on that I get the same windows 'Open File' dialog box that I get when I click on the NM desktop icon asking me if I want to Run the program.
My apologizes for the brain hurter, as I said I'm not good with computers and I'm sure the issue is user induced. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

We need to find your original installation location or your backup to get your data back. We also need to know where you extracted the new installation to.

Once we have that information we can copy your data from the original installation location (or your backup) to the new installation location.

As an alternative, you can send your original data to me and I can send you the latest version with your data. You can send it on a USB or we can figure out a way to electronically transfer it.

I receive the following error code whenever I attempt to create any reports: Report failed due to the following error [Error compiling report java source files: C:\Users\Bill and Lisa Laptop\Downloads\NM Collector SW\NMCollectorJEfor Win\NMCollectorJE\app\inventory_1589367301930_896189.java]
The ending numbers change each time depending on which report I select. This issue started in the last year or so, I'm not good with computers so I've done without reports but would like to update everything now.

Sorry, I do not know what the issue is and, of course, it works on my computer. I wonder if we need to try reinstalling your NM Collector Software. If you have an out of date version it might be a good time to upgrade. The upgrade instructions are here: https://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/upgrade/

Alternatively, in case something is wrong with the reports installation, you could try upgrading just the reports: https://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/report/reports-upgrade/

I think I just bought NM Collector but don't remember getting a license key. I also cannot find a record of it. I do have a portable version I bought some years ago with a lifetime activation (2.5.1 I think) I would like to install an updated version on my computer. How do I get a new license key.

2). Can I have a portable version and back up the entries on my desktop by moving the files from one to the other?

1. I did find your recent purchase and resent the activation. Please check your spam folder in case it is flagged as junk mail for some reason. You then just need to download and install the upgrade. Once you install the upgrade you can copy your nmcswDB folder from the old location to the new location to transfer your data. It will also carry over your original lifetime activation. I can refund your most recent purchase if you get things working with the old activation.

2. Yes, that is a perfect way to make a current backup (https://www.nmcollectorsoftware.com/support1/backups/) and use it on other computers.

When I say backup failed, it is that the thumbdrive I put NMJE on is in the system but windows 10 gives me the message that .dll will damage the system on not to proceed. Since I am not that computer proficient I backoff. Somewhere in windows 7 I had the key you sent but don't now because all previous emails of mine were not able to transfer according to last pc technician. The thumb drive is apparently just an evaluation copy. If you have no record either would it be simpler to re-purchase?

So there are no .dll files involved with NM Collector Software (it is a java application) so I do not know where that error is coming from. I agree, better not to use the USB flash drive under those circumstances.

I don't keep my own records of purchases but, if you used PayPal, we should be able to find a record of it in PayPal. Do you remember what email you used if you purchased using PayPal?
